US AND OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Automobile Storage Co is run by Dr Geraint Owen and Charlotte Peacop from their home in Herefordshire

Geraint grew up in a world of old cars. His father dug up the land Speed record car BABS in Pendine ,South Wales when Geraint was 10 months old. Geraint restored a 3 wheeler Morgan when he was 17 (winning concours awards from the Morgan Three Wheeler Club) before going off to University where he used a 20 year old MGBGT as his everyday car. He and his father built “Jemima”, a special for VSCC events using a 1930 Morris Minor chassis and JAP engine which was duly driven and towed around the country using the MGBGT! After several success with Jemima, Geraint built a second special putting a deHavilland Gypsy engine in a 1928 Riley! Much VSCC racing followed. He then restored a chain drive Frazer-Nash (winning the Frazer-Nash Section Best Kept Car award). The DH-Riley has now been sadly sold, but was been replaced by a T35B Bugatti project, that slowly took shape when he isn’t looking after BABS. As well as playing with old cars, Geraint is a Director of the Vintage Sports Car Club.

Charlotte also grew up in a world of old cars. Her father runs the Mouldsworth Motor Museum (where he also provides limited car storage), where summer work wag good training in her formative years. A few outings in some of fathers cars then led to Charlotte to have a number of seasons competing successfully at VSCC events in Jemima. She has also raced the Frazer Nash and had guest drives at International race meetings in the Temple family Brooklands Riley.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

As car enthusiasts we offer the sort of care you expect for your pride and joy. We believe that we offer the lowest price dehumidified storage in the UK. Prices may rise a little in years to come, but for any car placed with us now, we will not increase the price paid for the next 5 years! What’s more we endeavour to provide free collection for long term customers.

Whilst we are keen to get new customers, we endeavour to provide honest advice – even if that means suggesting you go elsewhere. There are several reasons to bring your car to us. Price is clearly one, as is our flexibility, the cars are fully insured, but also we are near excellent motoring countryside and roads.

Storage in Herefordshire may not seem the most logical choice for those in the South East. It clearly isn’t if you want access to your car once a fortnight. But for long term storage, letting us collect your car for free and bring it west may represent a significant saving. A quick search of the web shows that prices in the South East are £20-£25/week plus VAT (that’s an extra £600-700 per year).
